In a heartwarming turn of events, five fire departments in Union County received an early Christmas surprise as they were granted 82 new MSA G1 SCBA. The fortunate recipients of this equipment are the Alpine Volunteer Fire Department, Ingomar Vol. Fire Dept., North Haven Fire Department, Northeast Union Fire Department, and Southeast Volunteer Fire Department. The equipment is Self Contained Breathing Apparatus.
This generous provision became possible through a Regional Grant that was submitted on behalf of the other four departments by the hosting Southeast Volunteer Fire Department. The total value of the award package reached an impressive $723,978, with the federal share amounting to $689,502.85. Notably, this is the largest award the State of Mississippi has received this year through the FEMA AFG program, making it a significant milestone for the region.
The success of this endeavor would not have been possible without the invaluable assistance of Sunbelt Fire and Salesman Alan Gho, who played instrumental roles in facilitating the acquisition of these much-needed SCBA units. Additionally, the commendable cooperation and collaboration of each department involved were crucial in ensuring the smooth delivery of these life-saving packs to Union County.
This uplifting news serves as a reminder of the selflessness and dedication exhibited by our local fire departments, who tirelessly work to protect and serve their communities. The new SCBA units will undoubtedly enhance their capabilities and further bolster their commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of the residents they serve.
As we approach the holiday season, let us express our gratitude to these brave firefighters and the organizations that support them. Their unwavering commitment to public safety is truly deserving of recognition and appreciation.
