Food Sculpture Art demo at Museum on Tuesday, July 28

Creativity takes so many forms. Khan Nguyen Goudelock of New Albany will present a program of Food Sculpture, featuring carving of fruits and vegetables into beautiful tablescapes and edible compositions on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, 2 p.m. at the Union County Heritage Museum in New Albany.

Khan, a native of Viet Nam now living in New Albany, MS, is self-taught.  She said that she began food carving years ago when she first saw it in Thailand.  Now she is one again making time for this ancient art.

First recorded in the far east, Thailand is considered by some as the place that food sculpture began as a special dish to serve royalty.  Japan also has a history of food carving and sculpture

A watermelon can turn into a bouquet of roses, a radish into a flower, a carrot into an edible masterpiece.  Potatoes can become the art that you eat.

Using a sharp knife like a paint brush, Khan creates masterpieces that her friends and family love. The love of food, the love of art and practice, practice, practice is how Khan approaches her projects.
