Freedom Celebration, Pedaling for Hope: Music, Fun, Cycling, Fireworks in downtown New Albany Saturday

On June 24 , 2023, Core Cycle and Outdoors will present Pedaling for Hope on the Tanglefoot Trail. Riders can register at 7:30 am at New Albany’s Trailhead Plaza, with the 25 mile, 50 mile, and 100km rides starting at 8:00 am at the Tanglefoot Trailhead Plaza Bridge. The rides will finish at the same location between 10 am and 1 pm, where cyclists can enjoy a post-ride lunch, live music, and celebration for the upcoming 4th of July Freedom Celebration in New Albany. The Pedaling for Hope cycling event along the Tanglefoot Trail will be followed by The Freedom Celebration with live music by Gary Burnside, Monty J & Element, and Legends of the Blues at the Trailhead Plaza, with a fireworks show in the evening.

Attendees of the Pedaling for Hope afterparty can spend the Saturday afternoon exploring the charming small town’s historic downtown, parks, tennis courts, walking trails, and the town’s disc golf course. The Union County Library offers free WIFI, friendly staff, and the only bike borrowing program around. The town’s heritage museum features exhibits detailing the community’s history, and visitors can bask in the Literary Garden, a tribute to New Albany’s famous native son, William Faulkner.

Join The City of New Albany as it host the 2023 Freedom Celebration on Saturday evening from 5:00pm-9:30pm at the Tanglefoot Trailhead. The event includes music performances from Gary Burnside, Monty J & Element, and Legends of the Blues, as well as food and fireworks. Food will be available while supplies last.  Attendees are encouraged to watch the fireworks from either the trailhead bridge or the Library Parking lot. The music event is an homage to the King of Blues, Sam Mosley.

Please note that the Union County Courthouse will not have a stage. Instead, all activities will occur at the Trailhead located across from New Albany MS City Hall. For a great vantage point to view fireworks, come to the Tanglefoot Bridge, which crosses over Main Street next to the Union County Library System, Mississippi.
