Glenda June Burgess Hodges, 70

Glenda June Burgess Hodges, 70, resident of Tippah County, passed away peacefully Sunday, April 14, 2024, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in New Albany, Mississippi, surrounded by loved ones.

Funeral Services honoring the life of Mrs. Glenda will be at 1 PM Friday April 19, 2024, in the Heritage Chapel of the Ripley Funeral Home with visitation from 11 AM until Service Time. Burial will follow in Blue Mountain Cemetery.

Born May 29, 1953, in Blue Mountain, MS to the late John Henry and Modeina Jane Thomas Burgess, Mrs. Glenda received her education from Ripley High School and was employed for multiple years with various factories in Tippah County, even serving as a security guard for seven years with Benchecraft, before her retirement.

A Christian and simple woman, Mrs. Glenda’s favorites pastimes included knitting, crocheting, and being outdoors in God’s creation while fishing. She was full of life and was defiantly the backbone of her family, as she always supported her children and grandchildren in anything they did in their lives. She will be remembered as a wonderful sister, loving mother, and caring grandmother, and will be missed dearly.

Those left to cherish memories include, one daughter, Erica Calvery (Jonathan), two sons, Anthony Burgess (Anna), and Chris South (Julie), one brother, Johnny Burgess (Brenda), a special friend and cousin, Sharron Thomas, nine grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Steve Hodges, one brother, Billy White, and a grandchild.
