Gorden Carol Whittington, 77, passed away on Friday, January 5, 2024 at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson. He was born May 24, 1946 in New Albany to Carol and Violet McDaniel Whittington. He had worked in scrap metal for over 50 years and was the owner/operator of Whittington Metal Services. He enjoyed working and instilled that strong work ethic in his sons. Some might say he had an ornery side, and they wouldn’t be wrong; but he also had a big heart. He was a loving husband to his late wife, Pat, and a caring father and grandfather to his sons and grandchildren. He was faithful supporter of his church, Harmony Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be at 2:00p.m. Monday, January 8, 2024 at United Funeral Service with Bro. Daniel Smith officiating. Burial will be at Union Hill Cemetery.
He is survived by his two sons, Michael Whittington (Heather) and Greg Whittington; two sisters, Linda Clark and Debbie Burleson; one brother, Mark Whittington; eight grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Patricia Nolley Whittington.
Visitation will be Sunday, January 7, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at United Funeral Service.
