MDOT reports ice on roads in North MS, two fatalities earlier today
The Mississippi Department of Transportation reports ice on roads:
There are now reports of ice on roads and bridges in 10 Mississippi counties. Temperatures tonight in our area will dip to around 28 degrees, with a “real feel” around 21 degrees.
They are Alcorn, Benton, Coahoma, DeSoto, Lafayette, Marshall, Tallahatchie, Tate, Tippah and Tunica counties. Please use caution on Mississippi highways in these areas.
Earlier Today: The Mississippi Highway Patrol has confirmed two dead and 44 injured when a tour bus operated by Teague VIP Express overturned negotiating an icy overpass where I-269 meets I-22 in North Mississippi.
The dead are 70-year-old Betty Russell and 61-year-old Cynthia Hardin, both of Huntsville, AL. Three of the injured are said to be hospitalized in serious condition.
