Jackson Herrington, 88

November 4, 1935 – January 13, 2024

Jackson Allen Herrington, age 88, of New Albany, Mississippi, passed away on Saturday, January 13, 2024. He was born November 4, 1935 to Leonard Herrington, Sr., and Eudell Berry Herrington. A lifelong resident of New Albany, Jack graduated from New Albany High School and the University of Mississippi where he was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was the owner of M & H Tire Company. He was a member of First Methodist Church of New Albany. Jack, better known as Big Jack to his family and friends, loved hunting, the outdoors, and spending weekends at Midway Hunting Club and Darden Lake.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents; sister Peggy H. Campbell; brother Leonard Herrington, Jr.; and sister Anne Barker. Jack is survived by his wife of sixty six years Mary Ann Herrington, daughter Margaret Maxwell (Allen); son Jay Herrington (Tounia); six grandchildren Mary Dennis (Padrick), Ed Maxwell (Nicole), Anne Maxwell, Catherine Ann Davis (Parker), Elizabeth Harrison and Jack Herrington; and nine great grandchildren.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, January 14, 2024, from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. at First Methodist Church of New Albany followed by a memorial service at 3:00.
