James T. “Jimmy” Witt, 72, lifetime resident of Tippah County went to his heavenly home on Thursday, December 21, 2023, at the Tippah County Hospital, surrounded by his loved ones.



Funeral services for Jimmy will be Saturday, December 23, 2023, at 1PM in the Heritage Chapel of the Ripley Funeral Home with Bro. Doc Shelton and Bro. Donald Roberson officiating.  Visitation will be from 10AM until time of service. Burial will follow in the Fellowship Baptist Church Cemetery.

Jimmy was born on April 18, 1951, in Tippah County to the late Herbert and Mary Frances Wells Witt.  He received his education from the Beuna Vista and Walnut Public School System, was a valued employee at Bench Craft, Ashley and recently with Bill’s Appliances in Walnut.

A Christian and a man who loved life, Jimmy will be remembered for his positive attitude and his friendly outgoing personality. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and a great role model to all kids he came across through the years. Some of his favorite past times included deer hunting, fishing, riding his four-wheeler on every hill and holler he could find.

Memories will continue to be shared by his loving wife and best friend for 51 years, Brenda Sides Witt of Walnut, one son, Brian Witt (Sharon) of Hamilton, AL, two sisters, Margaret Cooper, and Rita Carter (Benny), two brothers, Jerry Wayne Witt and Gene Witt (Becky), one grandson, Seth Lucas (Hailee), two great grandchildren, Berkleigh and Levi Lucas, and a host of nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Peggy Benefield, four brothers, Lee Edward Witt, Kenneth Witt, Donald Witt and Ricky Witt.
