Janis Hardy Kent, 73

July 14, 1950 – June 23, 2024

Janis Wynell Hardy Kent, age 73, passed away Sunday, June 23, 2024, at NMMC in Tupelo, MS. She was born July 14, 1950, in Union County, MS, to James Archie Hardy and Omie Valma Mauney Hardy, who preceded her in death.

Janis was a loving and nurturing woman who always put her family first. She loved preparing a Sunday meal for her loved ones to enjoy. Her Sunday lunches were a time for the family to come together and bond over food and conversation. She enjoyed her flowers and especially loved watching the hummingbirds around her yard. Janis had a special relationship with her niece, Jessica, whom she loved like a daughter. She doted on Jessica’s children, never missing any of their events. She was always there to support and encourage them. Janis’s love for her husband and her family made her a truly special and beloved woman, and will be sorely missed by her friends and family. Janis was a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church.

Services to honor her life will be Wednesday, June 26, 2024, at 2:00 pm at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church with Dr. Rex Yancy and Bro. Jerry King officiating. A visitation will be on Tuesday evening, June 25, 2024, from 4:30 until 7:30 at United Funeral Service and one hour at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church from 1:00 pm until the service at 2:00 pm. Burial will be at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery.

Janis is survived by her loving husband, Robert Wayne “Peewee” Kent; her special niece, Jessica Hardy Carpenter (Robbie); and her special great-nieces, Alex Raines, Darby Sue Carpenter, and great-nephew, Mason Raines; and brother Garry Hardy.
