Jiles Rebon Crum, 91
September 30, 1934 – May 14, 2026
Jiles Rebon Crum, lovingly known to so many simply as “Rebon,” passed peacefully from this earthly life on Thursday morning at the home of his daughter, surrounded by the love, comfort, and presence of his family. A devoted Christian man with a gentle spirit and humble heart, Rebon was deeply loved and respected by all who had the blessing of knowing him.
Funeral services honoring and celebrating the life of Mr. Rebon will be held at 4:00 PM on Saturday at Hatchie Chapel Church, with Bro. Ronnie Mercer officiating. Visitation will begin at 2:00 PM and continue until service time. Family and friends are also invited to gather for visitation on Friday evening from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the church. Burial will follow in Hatchie Chapel Church Cemetery.
Born on September 30, 1934, at the family home in Alcorn County, Mississippi, Mr. Rebon was the son of the late Jiles Jackson and Gertie V. Wilbanks Crum. Raised during a time when life demanded sacrifice and hard work, he attended local schools before leaving at an early age to help provide for his family. Like so many of his generation, he learned quickly the value of honest labor, perseverance, and responsibility — qualities that remained with him throughout his entire life.
For many years, Mr. Rebon worked for Fruehauf Trailer Company in Memphis, Tennessee, faithfully providing for those he loved. Yet if you asked him what he truly considered himself to be, he would simply say a farmer. The land was where his heart belonged. Whether tending a large garden that he generously shared with neighbors and friends, caring for the horses he dearly loved, riding tractors, or simply enjoying the outdoors, Mr. Rebon found great joy and peace in the simple life he built with his own hands. His small homeplace was more than just where he lived — it was a reflection of the life he treasured most.
A lifelong Christian and faithful member of Hatchie Chapel Church, Mr. Rebon loved the Lord with all his heart. Though declining health may have prevented him from attending church as often in recent years, his faith never weakened. He carried his testimony daily through the way he lived his life. He was as Godly a man as one could ever hope to meet — honest, humble, soft-spoken, and full of compassion. Those who knew him best knew there was never bitterness, meanness, or harshness in him. His daughter lovingly shared that throughout her entire life, she never once witnessed her father drink alcohol, speak an ugly word, or tear another person down. He was simply good through and through — the kind of man this world could always use more of.
Above all else, Mr. Rebon treasured his family. Nothing brought him greater happiness than time spent with those he loved. Family gatherings, visits from grandchildren, laughter around the home, and the simple blessing of togetherness were among his greatest joys in life. He was a loving father, devoted brother, proud papaw, and adoring great-papaw. His bond with his little five-year-old great-grandson was especially precious, as the two shared a friendship that brought endless smiles to everyone around them. They truly were “two peas in a pod.”
The world feels a little dimmer without Rebon Crum in it, yet his family finds comfort in knowing his story does not end here. Though his presence will be missed more than words could ever express, they rejoice in the promise that he has now been made whole, healed forever, and welcomed into the presence of his Savior. One can only imagine the reunion that took place in Heaven as he was greeted by the many loved ones, he longed to see again.
Those left to cherish his memory and carry on his remarkable legacy include his two daughters, Debbie Childers Crum and Patty Feazell; one son, Aaron Crum; two brothers, Johnny Crum and Leland Crum (Dorothy); grandchildren, Rocky Essary, Kish Feazell, Darrell Mullins, and Zackery Marcinek(Scarlett); eight great-grandchildren; along with many beloved cousins, extended family members, and countless dear friends.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Rebon was preceded in death by his wife, Mable Louise Willis Crum; two grandchildren, Denise Essary and Brian Feazell; two sisters, Bobbie Blasingame and Ruby Box; and four brothers, J.C. Crum, Marlin Crum, Donald Crum, and Billy Crum.
Serving as pallbearers will be Darrell Mullins, Rocky Essary, Zackery Marcinek, Leland Crum Jr., Wayne Jones Jr., and Johnny Crum Jr.
