Jim Roy Smith, 69

November 30, 1956  –  June 5, 2026

James “Jim” Roy Smith, 69, of New Albany, Mississippi, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on June 5. He was born on November 30, 1956.

Jim was a business owner for much of his life and was known for his hard work, kindness, and sense of humor. He was funny, kindhearted, and always had a way of making people laugh. He loved fishing, golfing, vacationing, and riding his golf cart around his property. He also enjoyed collecting things, especially Coca-Cola memorabilia, coins, postcards, and artwork.

Jim is survived by his wife, Sandra Smith; his sons, Josh Smith (Jolie) and Jacob Smith (Krystina); and his grandson, Joel Smith (KiLynn). He is also survived by his stepfather, Roy Zilinger; his mother-in-law, Janell Bird (Jerry); and his stepmother, Betty Smith.

He is further survived by his siblings, Ed Smith (Wanda), Tay Smith (Deena), Mike Lane (late wife Rhonda), Shelly Ryetsche (Gene), Sherri Rhynes (Ronnie), and Sheila Biffle (David); his sister-in-law, Lori Mitchell (Jeanie); and a large, loving family of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Taylor Smith and Joan Zilinger.

Visitation will be held Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at United Funeral Home, with the funeral service to follow at 1:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or to the Ingomar Volunteer Fire Department.
