JoAnn Potts, 84

January 7, 1940 – January 16, 2024

Joann Bready Potts gained her wings on Tuesday, January 16, 2024, at New Albany Health and Rehab Center. She was born January 7, 1940, to Joseph and Evelyn Jones Bready of Hickory Flat, MS. She as a Methodist minister’s wife, Charles L. Potts, whom she married December 16, 1955. She served by his side with each church he was assigned which include, Hickory Flat, Breman, GA, New Albany, Calhoun City, Starkville, Hernando, Iuka, Booneville, Clarksdale, Columbus, Corinth, Natchez, and Leland, MS. She also taught school in all of these towns. After her husband’s death in 1996, she moved to Tupelo for a few years, and then to Olive Branch, where she taught for over the next 20 years at Olive Branch Intermediate School and attended the Maples United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her three children, Alan Potts (Carol) of Tupelo, Dean Potts (Beth) of Hernando, MS, Pam Potts Qualls (David) of Saltillo, MS, grandchildren Lauren Potts Wilson, of Hernando, MS, Lindsey Potts Ramos (Alex) of Olive Branch, Andrea Potts of Atlanta, Erica Potts of Saltillo, Amanda Qualls Jooste (Nic) of Oxford, Greatgrandchildren, Tuck Wilson and Eli Smith of Hernando and Nico and Bodhi Jooste of Oxford.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, one grandson, Chad Potts, one brother Thomas W. Bready.
Services will be on Monday, January 22, at 2:00pm with a visitation from 11:30 until the start of the service. Burial will be at Potts Camp Cemetery.
