Karen Stewart, 79

September 13, 1946  –  April 27, 2026

Karen Luebke Stewart, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on April 27th, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. She was 79.

Karen was born in Aberdeen on September 13th, 1946, to the late Wes and Margie Bradley Luebke. She graduated from Aberdeen High School in 1964. She went on to attend Mississippi University for Women before graduating from the University of Mississippi in 1968 with a degree in elementary education. She carried her love for children and learning into a meaningful career in education, teaching at Lafayette Elementary School, Aberdeen Elementary School, and Okolona Elementary School.

In 1971, she married the love of her life, William “Bill” Clyde Stewart, Jr., beginning a lifelong partnership rooted in faith, family, and unwavering support for one another.

Her faith was a guiding force throughout her life. For 32 years, she taught Sunday school, pouring into generations with kindness, wisdom, and a steady, loving presence.

She had a special joy for life’s celebrations—especially weddings. In her spare time, she directed hundreds of weddings, finding deep happiness in helping others begin their own lifelong journeys. It was just one of the many ways she expressed her love for people.

Above all, she loved her family and friends with her whole heart. She was their biggest champion, fiercest protector, and constant encourager. Her greatest pride and joy were her granddaughters, whose lives brought her endless happiness.

A graveside service will be held at 10 AM Saturday, May 9th, 2026 at Lee Memorial in Verona with Bro. Randy Lewman officiating.

She is survived by her beloved husband, William “Bill” Clyde Stewart, Jr., of Tupelo; her daughter, Leslie Stewart Galjour and husband, Ben, of Tupelo; her daughter, Emily Claire Stewart and husband, Keith, of Little Rock; her son, William “Will” Clyde Stewart, III and husband, Steven, of Tupelo; and her cherished granddaughters, Vivian and Mamie Galjour.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her adored grandmother, Mary Elizabeth Bradley, and her sister, Claire Gregory.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff of the North Mississippi Medical Center Hospice Care Unit for their compassionate care.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Tupelo-Lee Humane Society, P.O. Box 2143, Tupelo, MS 38803, or to a charity of your choice.
