Lacey Elkins, 29

 February 21, 1994 – November 27, 2023

Tupelo- It is with extremely heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Lacey Alexandria Elkins on November 27, 2023. She passed peacefully with her mother, Pamela Lamons and husband, Patrick Elkins by her side. Multiple family and friends waited full of support and love in the waiting room as she passed and were able to say goodbye. Lacey was born on February 21, 1994 in Tupelo, Mississippi. She was 29 years old.

Lacey is survived by her loving husband Patrick Elkins, her boys Roman and Julian Elkins, her mother Pamela Lamons, her brother Jamie Richey (Shawna), her special and loved nephews Eli and Jax Richey, her “Uncle Bubba” aka Emrick Lamons (Kelly), and their children Eddie Lamons and Hudson Murphy, Aunt Suanja Atherton (Mick), her father-in-law Dr. W.A. Thames (Stephani), and their daughter, her sister-in-law Dru Thames, her mother-in-law Nancy Bracken, her brother-in-law Chris Elkins (Ashley), their children Vivienne and Layla, and her grandparents James and Doris Richey and Jean Lamons. Lacey was preceded in death by her father James E. Richey Jr. (“Eddie”), her maternal grandfather Owen Lamons Jr., and her brother-in-law Jason Thames.

Patrick and Lacey met through mutual friends and it was instantly love at first sight. She has been his “princess” ever since, and has been treated as such. Their first date was to a recovery meeting, setting the tone for their later years as advocates for helping others with their recovery. Within a week, they went on a trip and moved in together shortly after. They welcomed a perfect baby boy, Roman Elkins, and with him a commitment to spend the rest of their lives with each other. They were married in Las Vegas, NV. Patrick lovingly references the day of their marriage by remembering him driving her away in a red convertible, as she sang with the wind blowing through her hair. That was who Lacey was; carefree and in love with life. They later went on to have another perfect baby boy, Julian Elkins, and completed their family.

Lacey was the best mother. She provided unlimited affection, constant nurturing, and a fierce protectiveness over her boys, Roman and Julian (aka P2 and J$). They were her “velcro babies”, constantly attached to her and admiring everything she was. Her boundless love will forever live on in the hearts of her children, and the world is a better place with her spirit and her eyes in both of her boys. They will miss her terribly, and she will be their guiding light for the rest of their lives, protecting and nurturing from above.

Lacey was a stand-out athlete, earning the title of the Ladies World Champion wakeboarder, a cheerleader, basketball, and softball player. Her dedication to sports was just a drop in the ocean compared to her dedication for her family, friends, and future career.

Lacey was a strong advocate for substance abuse recovery, and a prominent figure in the recovery community of Tupelo, MS and beyond. She worked for Summit Behavioral Health in National Clinical Outreach and helped anyone in the country receive treatment for recovery, no matter the circumstance. She had a special driving force to help those with limited access to funds and insurance, and worked tirelessly to find them the best treatment, on her own unpaid time, because she truly believed every single person is worthy of recovery and a full life. She and her husband Patrick were owners of the sober living facility and charity Kyle’s House, helping provide a safe, substance-free living environment that supports individuals in recovery from addiction.

Even in death, Lacey continued to give to others. She was an organ donor, and will live in others forevermore. We hope and pray her recipients live lives as Lacey did – full of love, compassion, and drive.

A celebration of life service in Lacey’s memory will be held at 11AM on Friday, December 1, 2023 at Chesterville Calvary Baptist Church, 106 Doe Run Rd, Tupelo, MS. Visitation will be held from 9AM – service time on Friday only at the church. Gravesite burial will immediately follow in Endville Cemetery. Holland Funeral Directors is honored to be serving the family during this time.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to Kyle’s House, a sober-living residential facility helping provide hope and recovery to others owned by Lacey and Patrick Elkins.

Thank you for loving our Lacey, aka “Lulu.” We will love you, Lacey, forevermore.
