Lanetta Knight Aven, 87

Lanetta Knight Aven, 87, of Mooreville, Mississippi, passed away on December 13, 2023, at Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo, MS. Born on April 2, 1936, in Mississippi to L.C. Knight and Nettie Brown Knight, Lanetta led a life marked by love, generosity, and a deep commitment to her family and faith.



Lanetta is survived by her devoted son, Mark Aven of Mooreville, and her cherished grandchildren: Jennifer White of Saltillo, Montana Stoop of Mooreville, Betty Jordan of Hamilton, MS, Amy Ferraro of Caledonia, and Connie Jordan of Caledonia. She is also remembered by her 11 great-grandchildren, nieces Dottie Jones, Melinda Stewart, Jackie Mixon, and Patty Malone, along with a host of extended family and friends.

Preceding her in death are her parents, L.C. Knight and Nettie Brown Knight, her beloved husband, Alton “Sonny” Aven, sister Louise Knight Malone, and brothers Brown Knight, Doyle Knight, and Watt Knight.

A woman of unwavering faith, Lanetta was a long-time member of Border Springs Baptist Church in Caledonia, and more recently, she found solace and community at Crosspointe Church in Tupelo. Her commitment to her faith was reflected in her kindness and compassion towards others.

Lanetta will be remembered for her love of gardening, a passion she cultivated throughout her life. Her green thumb brought beauty and life to her surroundings, mirroring the way she nurtured relationships with the same care and dedication.

Among her many joys in life, Lanetta delight in listening to the music of Elvis Presley. His tunes served as a soundtrack to her life, creating a rhythm that echoed the joy she brought to those around her.

Visitation and funeral services to celebrate Lanetta’s life will be held on Friday, December 15, 2023, at Associated Family Funeral Home Chapel of Memories in Tupelo, MS. Visitation will begin at 11:00 A.M. and continue until 1:00 P.M., with the funeral service starting at 1:00 P.M.

Lanetta Knight Aven will be deeply missed but forever remembered for her love, warmth, and the lasting impact she had on the hearts of all who knew her. May she rest in eternal peace.
