Library can now help with certain civil legal aid needs
New Albany, MS– The computers at the Jennie Stephens Smith Library are routinely used by students and people doing job searches and resumes. There is now information available from the Mississippi Access to Justice Commission to help certain segments of the population to receive help with civil legal aid. The Mississippi Access to Justice Commission has a website that answers legal questions and has online forms for Irreconcilable Differences Divorce, Emancipation (people under the age of 21 living independent of their parents), and adult name change. When the 2017 schedule of legal clinics is complete, it will be available at the library. Having this information available is another way that the Jennie Stephens Smith and Union County Library services the city of New Albany and Union County.
During the month of October the library had 3923 visitors and issued 24 new library cards for New Albany citizens and 39 new library cards for Union County citizens.
