Literary Fest 2016 in New Albany has many events yet to come.
New Albany, MS– As local lovers of the written word continue the celebration of “all things literary,” the community’s various groups and organizations that celebrate books, writers, readers and performance will share their various endeavors with anyone who wishes to partake in this year’s Literary Fest 2016. This three-month celebration, which is now at its approximate mid-point, is meant to be a community-wide event, and all of the sponsoring and contributing organizations invite the general public’s participation.
Our community is pleased to offer the William Faulkner Literary Competition, the Faulkner Folk Art Exhibit, many book reviews, academic programs, even dramatic presentations relating to things literary. The culmination of this season’s events will generally coincide, as in the past, with the date of William Faulkner’s birthday–which, this year, would be his 119th.
William Faulkner’s legacy is undeniable, with his works being widely performed, written about and studied even more than 50 years after his death. His genius and world-wide reputation bring many visitors to New Albany and the surrounding area each year.
Note the coming events on the schedule below, mark them on your calendars, and plan to celebrate ‘the art of the story’ by attending as many as possible.
