Martha Miller, 88

SALTILLO – Martha Wascomb Miller, 88, died Friday, December 15, 2023, at Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo. Martha was born on June 27, 1935 in Lee County to Roy Elmer Wascomb and Martha Pearl Barlow Wascomb. She was a graduate in the Tupelo High School Class of 1953 and earned an associate’s degree at Itawamba Junior College. She worked as a draftsman for Cook-Coggin Engineering as well as for Neal Schafer. She was also a cosmetologist. She retired as a draftsman from DayBrite Lighting. Her hobbies included volunteering, which she did often at Sanctuary Hospice and the Sanctuary Hospice Shop. She loved people and was a socialite. She attended Wesley United Methodist Church in Tupelo.



A Celebration of Life Service for Martha will be held at 3 PM on Monday, December 18, 2023, in the Sadie M. Holland Memorial Chapel at Holland Funeral Directors with Rev. Mary Hutson officiating. Visitation will be from 1 PM to service time at the funeral home Monday only. Burial will take place at Tupelo Memorial Park. For those unable to attend, the service will be livestreamed at 1 PM at hollandfuneraldirectors.com, where it will be archived. Holland Funeral Directors is honored to serve their friends.

Martha is survived by her son, Donnie Christian (Terri) of Mooreville, and daughter Betsy Christian Turner (Tony); son-in-law David Hutson; seven grandchildren, Katie Youngblood (Cal), Wendy Little (TJ), John Charles Taylor, Noah Christian Roberts (Calee), Trey Christian (Hannah), Henry Hutson, and Shelby Burleson; four great-grandchildren, Trey and Landon Little, Houston Frank Roberts, and Reese Christian; and members of her extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jim Miller, who died in 2010; and two children, Trudi Hutson, and Jamie Burleson.
