Mary Ruth Hardin, 95

June 6, 1928 – April 20, 2024

Mary Ruth Hardin, born June 6, 1928 in Pine Grove (Tippah Co. MS), to Jimmy and Mandy Thomas Williams, departed this life on April 20, 2024 at the age of 95. Born during the Great Depression Era, she has seen and lived through many life changing events. She accepted Christ as a young girl and was baptized in a dirty pond, with her youngest brother. She helped pick cotton and corn fields alongside her siblings. At the tender age of 19 she married her lifelong partner of 61 years, Wiley Thomas (W.T.) Hardin until his death in 2009.
Her first job was as a soda jerk at a Pontotoc pharmacy, and worked briefly as a nurse’s aide. Her main calling in life was a wife and mother. Her passion was her devotion to her family and raising their two children. After her children began school, she sat with the elderly until her health began to fail. Even though she was home bound for many years, she managed to make friends with anyone she came in contact with. To know her was to love her, she never met a stranger and loved everyone. She would sing and give her testimony to anyone that would listen. She never missed an opportunity to tell others about her Lord and Savior. She praised her Heavenly Father on a daily basis, and loved to watch preaching and gospel singing.
She is preceded in death by her brothers, Mack, Ervin, Estele, Earnest, and Melvin Williams, and sisters, Virdie Mae Grubbs, Bea Cartwright, and Izell Hackney also, her sisters-in-law, Ruby Cannerdy, Earline Floyd, Mary Ruth Grisham, and Lola Coleman.
She is survived by two children, Sandra Bagwell, Keith Hardin (Jennifer), and one grandson, Thomas Bagwell. Along with special friends and neighbors, the Willie Simpson family, Mike and Melissa Rost and Lori Robertson. Special thanks to Dr. Brad Scott First Choice Home Care and the caregivers at Union County Health and Rehab and Home Care Hospice.
Pallbearers are Chris Williams, Willie Simpson, Bradley Bagwell, Dalton Boyd, and Ricky Windham, and Mike Rost. United Funeral Service is in charge of the services with Bro. Marty Merritt and Scotty Boyd officiating her going home celebration, on Monday, April 22, 2024 at 2:00pm, in the United Chapel. Visitation will be before the service from 12:00noon until 2:00pm.
