Mavis McBrayer Mallette, 80

March 21, 1943 – November 19, 2023

Mavis McBrayer Mallette, age 80, passed away Sunday, November 19, 2023, at the North Mississippi Medical Center. A Lee County native and lifelong resident she was born March 21, 1943, to Royce and Christine Hutcheson McBrayer. On December 24, 1960, Mavis married her high school sweetheart, Wayne “Mutt” Mallett and they enjoyed 62 wonderful years together. She provided care for children in her home for many years while raising her sons, touching many young lives for years to come. Later in her working career Mavis was a customer service representative for FMC. A woman of strong faith and Christian principles, Mavis was a dedicated member of Faith Baptist Church. She was an artistic individual and enjoyed making her own greeting cards for holidays and birthdays. Mavis will be remembered for her generous and giving spirit, always thinking of others before herself. She genuinely adored her family, cherishing each moment she spend with them.
Mavis leaves behind her husband of 62 years, Wayne “Mutt” Mallette; two sons, David Mallette and wife, Cathy and Stephen Mallette and wife, Lori; five grandchildren, Josh Mallette and wife, Gabbie, Alex Williams and husband, Dan, Brandon Mallette and wife, Cameron, Beth Brinkley and husband, Dustin, and Eric Patterson; and a younger sister Jan Smith.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Royce and Christine McBrayer; an older sister, Joyce Jackson and husband, Jimmy; brother-in-law, Billy Smith; and a great-grandson, Boone Brinkley.
Visitation will be 5 until 7 p.m. Tuesday, November 21, 20223 at Pegues, Saltillo.
Services honoring Mavis’ memory will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 22, 2023 at the Saltillo Chapel of Pegeus. Burial will be in Saltillo Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Josh Mallette, Brandon Mallette, Eric Patterson, Daniel Williams, Dustin Brinkley, and Adam Mallette.
