Tupelo-Michael Anthony Hueckel, 68, passed away on June 14, 2026, at Diversicare of Tupelo, Mississippi.
He was born on March 8, 1958, in Shreveport, Louisiana, to the late William Anthony Hueckel and Geraldine Miller Hueckel. A proud Louisiana native, Michael never lost touch with his roots. Though he made Tupelo his home for the past 26 years, he remained a Louisiana boy at heart throughout his life. Michael shared 48 wonderful years of marriage with the love of his life, Suzonne Hueckel. Their marriage was built on faith, devotion, and a deep love for one another.
Michael earned his Master’s Degree in Accounting and built a career marked by hard work, professionalism, and integrity. During his career, he worked as an accountant at Bancorp South in Tupelo, where he was respected by colleagues and customers alike for his knowledge and commitment.
In his younger years, Michael loved hunting and spending time outdoors. He was a passionate fan of LSU and the New Orleans Saints football, rarely missing an opportunity to cheer on his favorite teams. He also enjoyed one of Louisiana’s greatest traditions—sharing crawfish with family and friends. Michael also shared a special bond with his beloved dog, Roxie, who brought him years of companionship and happiness.
Above all else, Michael treasured his family. He dearly loved his children and grandchildren and found great joy in spending time with them. His faith was the foundation of his life, and he was a devoted Christian who faithfully attended King City Church. Michael’s kind spirit, gentle nature, and unwavering love for those around him left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
A memorial service will be held at 1 PM Tuesday, June 16, 2026 in the Sadie Holland Memorial Chapel at Holland Funeral Directors with Bro. Michael Stamps officiating. Michael is survived by his loving wife, Suzonne Hueckel of Tupelo, MS; son, Brian Hueckel (Emily) of Booneville, MS; daughter, Jessica Rhodes (Robert) of Tupelo, MS; grandchildren, Emma Hueckel, Sadie Hueckel, Maddie Hueckel and Jase Rhodes. The family would also like to recognize their church family and Footprints of King City Church.
He is preceded in death by his parents, William Anthony Hueckel and Geraldine Miller Hueckel.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made in Michael’s memory to Royal Family KIDS Camp, a camp for children in foster care and an organization close to the family’s heart.
