Milton Wayne Cornelius, 54

June 30, 1969 – December 29, 2023

Milton “Wayne” Cornelius, 54, was a resident of Myrtle, MS. He departed this earth on December 29, 2023 at North Mississippi Medical Center surrounded by his loved ones after a sudden brief illness.

Funeral Services honoring the life of Wayne will be Wednesday, January 3, 2024 at 11AM in the Memory Chapel of New Albany Funeral and Cremation Care with Bro. Robert Sheppard and Bro. Tony Monk officiating.  Visitation will be Tuesday, January 2, 2024 from 5PM-8PM and again on Wednesday from 9AM until time of funeral service.  Burial will be in the Enterprise Cemetery, but there will be no graveside service.

Born June 30, 1969, Wayne was the son of the late Daniel and Emma Jean Cornelius.  He was a graduate of Alcorn Central High School and attended Northeast Mississippi Community College.  Wayne was previously employed as a forklift driver with Hero Logistics in Blue Springs and has been an ordained Minister for over 30 years. Wayne was a man who devoted his time serving as a member and Deacon of Enterprise Baptist Church.  His personality was larger than life and those that knew and loved him describe him as a “big huggable teddy bear” and stated that he “never met a stranger”. He was known to tell many stories of his adventures growing up and loved his family more than anything. Some of Wayne’s favorite past times included watching the Green Bay Packers, spending time with family, and fishing. He had an appreciation of old automobiles and loved to travel when his health allowed.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 28 years, Tina Russell Cornelius; two daughters, Elizabeth Danielle Cornelius and Katelyn Diann Cornelius; two sisters, Cathy Sloan and Nancy Radtke; one brother, Daniel Cornelius (Karen), and a host of nieces and nephews. Wayne is preceded in death by his parents, Daniel and Emma Jean Cornelius; his sister, Pat Singleton; and his grandparents, Johnny B and Mary Cummings, and Milton and Forbis Cornelius.
