Mississippi Sales Tax Holiday July 28th-29th, 2023
The Mississippi’s s 2023 Sales Tax Holiday will take place between 12:01 a.m. on Friday, July 28 and midnight on Saturday, July 29. Selections of clothing, shoes, accessories and school supplies exempt from sales tax in New Albany, Mississippi. Individual items must be under $100 price range. The Sales Tax Holiday is intended to help many families with savings while providing a boost to the local economy and encourage consumers to shop locally.
During the Sales Tax Holiday, items priced below $100 are exempted from taxes, while items priced at or above $100 are subject to a regular 7% retail tax rate. For instance, if a customer buys two shirts and a pair of slacks for $50 each and $75, respectively, there would be no tax. However, if the customer also buys a pair of shoes for $110, the entire amount of the shoes would be taxed. Eligible clothing items are not limited to just school-age children. Adult and baby clothing qualifies for the sale tax holiday.
