Early morning fire destroys New Albany home
Just before 5 AM today, Tuesday January 2nd, New Albany Fire Department received a report of an early morning fire in a house on Hillcrest Drive, in New Albany. While enroute to the scene, responders were given the exact address as 505 Hillcrest Cove.
Firefighters arrived on the scene to find a single story brick home about 90% involved. The homeowner and a pet were already outside of the home, and a neighbor had given them a warm place out of the extremely cold weather.
Fire crews battled dangerously cold temperatures and ice from the firefighting water in the 8 degree temperatures (according to Accuweather) of the early morning, but were able to perform their jobs as normal.
The home had working fire detectors when the fire broke out, and no injuries were reported from the incident.
The cause of the early morning fire is unknown at this time, but is believed to have been accidental. The home, contents and vehicles, as seen in photos, are a total loss.
