NAHS Announces New Head Boys’ Basketball Coach
The New Albany School Board of Trustees has approved Robert Burdette as the new Head Boys’ Basketball Coach for New Albany High School (NAHS).
NAHS will officially present Coach Burdette as the New Albany Bulldogs Head Boys Basketball Coach at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 20th at the NAHS Media Center. A Meet & Greet reception will be held immediately following the announcement so that basketball families, school district employees, and the community can visit with Coach Burdette.
“We are excited to welcome Coach Burdette to the Bulldog family,” said Lance Evans, NAHS Principal. “He has the knowledge, experience, and work ethic to positively affect our students both on and off the court.”
Burdette has twenty-seven years of head coaching experience and comes to New Albany from Alabama where he served as head basketball coach for Alabama high schools such as Calera High School, Homewood High School, and South Lamar High School.
Burdette coached Darryl Wilson, who was named “Mr. Alabama Basketball” in 1992 and became a Mississippi State and SEC standout spoke the following regarding Coach Burdette, “I love that man! I tell you one thing. You are bringing in a guy with a basketball mind. He’s going to bring some major excitement to the program. I am very excited to see he’s going to be coaching here in Mississippi.”
