New Albany Fire Dept. and McDonald’s celebrate Dr. Seuss
The New Albany Fire Department and the New Albany McDonald’s restaurant are celebrating Dr. Seuss in a community service event Thursday, March 9th.
Theodor Seuss Geisel ( March 2, 1904 – September 24, 1991) was an American writer, cartoonist, animator, book publisher, and artist best known for authoring children’s books under the pen name Dr. Seuss. His work includes several of the most popular children’s books of all time, selling over 600 million copies and being translated into more than 20 languages by the time of his death.
Geisel’s birthday, March 2, has been adopted as the annual date for National Read Across America Day, an initiative on reading created by the National Education Association.
From 4PM to 6PM on Thursday March 9, kids can hear Dr. Seuss books read by a New Albany Fireman, tour a fire truck, have free ice cream, etc. Happy meals will be half price during the event.
