Quick action by New Albany Fire Department (NAPD) crews limited the damage in a house fire Friday, April 1, on Grandview Drive in west New Albany.

Responding to a call shortly after 4 p.m., NAPD firemen found fire near the heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) unit in the home’s attic. The fire was extinguished quickly and crews worked to minimize damage by removing some of the burning debris.

Except for the area immediately around the location where the fire is believed to have started, damage to the home was limited to that caused by smoke and water.

It was confirmed that some work had been done to the HVAC unit just prior to the report of the fire.

There were no reported injuries to residents of the home or to fire crews.
