NAHS Science Olympiad regional winners will go to state tournament

New Albany High School participated in the North Regional Science Olympiad Competition held at the University of Mississippi in Oxford on Saturday, March 4.  The results are as follows:

New Albany High School – 3rd place overall team

Disease Detectives, 3rd place – Elise Dunnam and Stacy Hernandez
Helicopters, 1st place – Joseph Rutherford and RJ Rutherford
Hovercraft, 2nd place – John MacGregor Davis and Hayes Richey
Robot Arm, 3rd place – John MacGregor Davis and Hayes Richey
Towers, 3rd place – Marcus Jones and Jay Tucker
Write It/Do It, 2nd place – Joseph Rutherford and RJ Rutherford

New Albany High School’s Olympiad team has been invited to the state tournament on March 31st. Mississippi schools are allowed to register and send as many teams as they wish to a regional tournament. However, only one team per school can advance to the state tournament.

The 2017 State Tournament will be hosted by University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg, MS.
