Ronald “Captain Ron” James Fleming, 78

April 11, 1946 – May 21, 2024

Ronald “Captain Ron” James Fleming, 78, of Fulton, MS, passed away peacefully on May 21, 2024, at North Mississippi Medical Center Hospice in Tupelo. Born on April 11, 1946, to Robert and Rosalie Biesterveldt Fleming, Ronald lived a life full of love, service, and adventure.



After completing high school, Ronald proudly served his country in the United States Navy. His career journey eventually led him to Thilmany, where he worked in Maintenance until his retirement.

Ronald is survived by his devoted wife, Patti Schwaller Fleming, his beloved daughters Brenda Vance and Nicole Huiting, and his son Cory Schwaller. He is also survived by his cherished brother, Bill Fleming, nine grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. A special friend, Paul Holmes, also mourns his passing. Ronald was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Rosalie, and his brothers Larry and Garry Fleming.

For 35 years, Ronald was an active and passionate member of Alcoholics Anonymous, where he dedicated himself to mentoring and supporting countless individuals on their paths to recovery. His commitment to helping others was one of the many ways he showed his generous spirit and kind heart.

A man of many interests, Ronald found joy in playing the guitar and other musical pursuits, boating, motorcycling, and, most importantly, spending quality time with his grandchildren. He was a member of Love, Joy, Church in Halmaton, AL, where he found community and spiritual fulfillment.

The Fleming family is being served by Associated Family Funeral Home in Tupelo, which is honored to assist them during this difficult time.

Ronald’s legacy of love, kindness, and dedication to others will forever be remembered by those who knew and loved him.
