Ruthie King Thomas, 84

January 8, 1939 – December 21, 2023

MRS. RUTHIE KING THOMAS was the second child born to the union of the
late Olan and Clara King. She was born on January 8, 1939, in Lee County, Mississippi. She entered her eternal rest on December 21, 2023, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, Mississippi surrounded by her family.

At an early age, she professed her faith in Jesus Christ and joined Red Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Tupelo, Mississippi. She later united with Chandlers Temple Christian Methodist Episcopal Church in Verona, Mississippi, where she faithfully served as an active member, especially with the Stewardesses Ministry.

Ruthie graduated from North Plantersville School and Foster’s Cosmetology College of Ripley, Mississippi. For many years, she worked at Blue Bell denim apparel company, where she crafted her skills of sewing. After a period of time serving as a homemaker, she was hired by the Tupelo Public School District and the Lee County School System working in food services. She retired as the Cafeteria Manager at Plantersville Junior High School.

Ruthie was married to the love of her life, the late Victor Lee Thomas, for 52 years. This union was blessed with four children. She was also blessed with a bonus son and daughter. She leaves to cherish her memories: two sons, Byron King Thomas and his wife, Natalie of Huntsville, Alabama, and Daniel L. Thomas and his wife, Melissa of Tupelo, Mississippi; daughter, Anna M. Thomas-Stovall and her husband, William of Tupelo, Mississippi;  bonus son, Leon Thomas and his wife, Navajo of Tupelo, Mississippi and bonus daughter, Emma L. Donaldson and her husband, Gerald of San Antonio, Texas; 16 grandchildren; and loving great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Ruby Nell Gilmore of Detroit, Michigan; one brother, Hollis King and his wife, Shirley of Southfield, Michigan; a special niece, Karen Givhan of Tupelo, Mississippi; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

An infant daughter, Alma Renell Thomas, twin to Anna, and two brothers (Sylvester King and Donnie E. King) preceded her in death.
