John “Steve” Cain, 73

January 14, 1951  –  May 22, 2024

HERNANDO, MS – Mr. John “Steve” Cain, at age 73, departed this life on Wednesday, May 22, 2024 from Methodist Hospital in Olive Branch after an extended illness. Steve, as he was known by most, was born in New Albany to the late L.D. Cain and Margery Jolly Cain (Lackey). He lived his first four years in the Belden/Endville area and moved with his family to Memphis. They later located in Desoto County where Steve lived the balance of his life. He graduated from Whitehaven High School. Steve started his career by working offshore on an oil rig for several years. He then devoted the rest of his life as a professional truck driver. Steve’s hobbies included fishing, gardening, bird watching and feeding, and any and all sports especially Ole Miss athletics.



A service celebrating his life will be held at 2 PM on Friday, May 24, 2024 in the Sadie Holland Memorial Chapel at Holland Funeral Directors-Tupelo with Bro. Stark Aldridge officiating. A private family committal will follow in Endville Cemetery in Pontotoc Co. Visitation will begin at 1 PM-service time on Friday only at Holland-Tupelo Chapel, which is honored to be serving their friends. Steve is survived by his only sister, Carol Rice (Terry, deceased) of Hernando; his aunt, Ruby Cain of Southaven; his uncle, Larry Jolly of Belden; his nieces, nephews and cousins and their families. Preceded him in death are his parents, LD Cain and Margery Jolly Cain Lackey, and his step-father, Langston Lackey.
