Steven B. Whitten, 62

May 8, 1961  –  December 26, 2023

GUNTOWN – Steven B. Whitten, 62, known by most as Steve, died peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family after an extended battle with cancer on Tuesday December 26, 2023. Born in Tupelo on May 5, 1961 to Rev. John P Whitten and Arelee “Libby” Carter Whitten, he was married to Michele M. Whitten in Tupelo on Jan 2, 2015. Steve worked at Tecumseh Products for 40+ years. He enjoyed music of all kinds, riding motorcycles, grilling, watching football (“Go Vols”), NASCAR, softball, and was an avid bowler, which he had many achievements including being in the hall of fame. Steve had the most down to earth soul and lived his life to the fullest. There was never a dull moment when he was around. He had an infectious laugh and a smile that would light up a room and he was very dedicated to his family and closest friends.



A service celebrating his life will be held Friday, December 29, 2023 from the Sadie M. Holland Memorial Chapel at 6 PM with Bro. Joshua Westmoreland officiating. The family will receive friends from 4 PM to service time on Friday at Holland Funeral Directors in Tupelo. Steve is survived by his wife of eight years, Michele Tice Whitten; his mother, Libby Whitten; his children, Stephanie Whitten and Kayla Spitler; grandchildren, Alivia McCormick and Barrett Spitler; step-children Savannah, Damian, Ben, Taylor; step-grandchild, Lillianna; his fur kitties, Ollie, Casper, Pebbles, Mia, and Eli; and two very special cousins, Judy and Dianne. He is preceded in death by his father, John, and sister Alisa Westmoreland.
