Police investigate early-morning pharmacy burglary here
New Albany police are investigating a drug store burglary that may be connected to a string of similar break-ins in the area overnight.
Police Chief Chris Robertson said his department received an alarm call concerning Super Saver Drugs on West Bankhead about 5:30 a.m. Tuesday.
Someone apparently had gained entry into the building through a window.
The chief said some prescription drugs and money was taken but the amount was not known Tuesday morning because the inventory was not completed.
The thieves may have gotten away with even more but Robertson said the response time following the alarm call was less than a minute. He said some time probably occurred from when the security company received an alarm and notified police.
The chief said similar pharmacy break-ins occurred in Sherman and Ripley between midnight and about 5 a.m. and there possibly was an additional one in Oxford so there is some likelihood the crimes are connected.
