Items of interest

(Timestamp 4:00) The board addressed the Legislative Grant Memorandum of Understanding Amendment for the Murrah Road Bridge Project. Board President C. J. Bright said that the amendment would give them the flexibility to reallocate funds as needed. County Administrator Terry Johnson explained that the funds were initially allocated only for the bridge and that the amendment would allow some of the funds to be used on roads in District 3. The board voted to approve the amendment.

(Timestamp 4:44) The board approved a change of lessee at the former Piper building on Hwy. 15 North. The county owns a small portion of the building which was previously leased to Jasper Creek. The county will now lease that portion of the building to Blue Mountain Production Company (Oil-Dri).

(Timestamp 5:30) Board Attorney Chandler Rogers explained that each county within the circuit court district pays a portion of the budget for the Victim Assistance Coordinator. Union County pays about 16% based on the portion of docket load from each county. The board approved the order.

(Timestamp 9:40) Bids were discussed for a new transmission and installation on a 2020 Ford Explorer owned by the Sheriff’s Department. Scott’s Auto Repair bid $7,240 and Barnes Crossing Ford bid $7,182.75. The board accepted the lower the bid.

The board then recessed until Monday, June 15, 2026.
