Tanna Gail Coates, 71

January 22, 1953 – April 15, 2024

Tanna Gail Coates, 71, passed away peacefully Monday April 15, 2024, at her home in Tiplersville, Mississippi surrounded by loved ones.

A Celebration remembering Ms. Coates’ life will be 1 PM Saturday, April 20, 2024, at Hixson-Ducote Funeral Home in Bunkie, Louisiana with visitation from 11 AM until Service Time. Burial will follow in the Vandenburg Cemetery in Turkey Creek, Louisiana.

Born January 22, 1953, in Bunkie, Louisiana, Ms. Coates was one of eleven children belonging to the late Tollie Martin Coates Sr. and Annie Mae Sudduth Coates. She received her education from Bayou Chicot High School and was employed for twenty-three years with the Grand Casino, before her retirement.

A Christian and member of Emmanuel Baptist Church, Ms. Coates enjoyed the simple things life had to offer. She had a very close-knit family, and always looked forward to “girl trips” with her two daughters and loving and spoiling her grandbabies. She will always be remembered for her gentle nature, easy-going personality, and the love she had for her family and friends.

Those left to cherish her memories include two daughters, Cassandra Marcotte Haskins (Chris), and Catrina Boenig (Brian), five grandchildren, Brittany Palumbo (Logan), Ronnie Munday, Abby Munday, Julie Boenig, and Caleb Boenig, three great grandchildren, Brayden Jax Lofton, Olivia Palumbo, and Owen Palumbo, and two sisters, Eunice Coates, and Carol Coates Rodriguez.

She is also preceded in death by eight siblings, Mary Fontenot, Tollie Coates Jr., Leroy Coates, Lucille Hardy, Shirley Carter, Hope Darst, Charles Purvis Sr., and James Coates Sr.
