Theresa Estes, 79

March 6, 1944 – November 1, 2023

PLANTERSVILLE – Theresa Lucille Cook Estes died Wednesday, November 1, 2023, at the North MS Medical Center after a brief illness. She was 79. Theresa was born on March 6, 1944, in Aberdeen, MS to the late James “Jake” Cook and Mattie Baugh Cook. Upon graduation from the Police Academy, she became the first female police officer in the City of Aberdeen, where she served 15 years. She completed her career of serving others in public trust at Aberdeen Light and Water Department. She attended Plantersville Baptist Church several years. Her hobbies included antique shopping, cooking, sewing, and spending time with family and friends. She also enjoyed yard work and having her hair done every Friday. Her nieces and nephews called her Aunt Resa.

Theresa is survived by her husband, David “Dave” Estes, Jr.; sisters, Cookie Saylor of Huntsville, AL, and Patricia Garrett of Aberdeen, MS; daughters, Vanessa (Dale) Thompson of Caledonia, MS, Tyrea (Ken) White of Navarre, FL, Jeana (Sam) Meyers of Hamilton, MS, and Dee (Gary) Derrick of Becker, MS; one stepson, Davy Estes (Brandy) of Plantersville, MS; grandchildren, Bob White, Courtney (Ben) Duke, Corey Thompson, Krystal Sutton, Lauren (Brandon) Allen, and Boston Estes of Plantersville, MS; great-grandchildren, Jordin Rogers, Jake Rogers, Jon White, Elle White, Grady Irvin, Lily Irvin, Harley Thompson, Mikayla Potts, Ryan Potts, and Lainey Allen of Amory, MS; and several nieces and nephews.

Theresa was preceded in death by her parents, Jake and Mattie Cook; a grandson, James “Jamie” Irvin, and granddaughter, Leslie Potts; and a baby brother.

Per Theresa’s request, there will be no formal visitation nor service.
