Thermond “Pete” Ledford, 91

November 2, 1931  –  October 20, 2023

ALGOMA – Thermond “Pete” Ledford, 91, died Friday, October 20, 2023, at his home in the Algoma community. Pete was born on November 2, 1931, in Middleton, TN to the late Albert Lee and Aliza Ann Brumlow Ledford. In 1950, at the age of 19, Pete married the love of his life, Juanita Tucker. Pete and Juanita spent 72 years together raising their family all over the state of Mississippi, but eventually settled in Northeast Mississippi. Pete was a man of great faith. He and his family were members of the Seven Day Adventist Congregation of Tupelo.



Pete loved woodworking. He worked as a contractor in his early working career. Later, and for 28 years, he was a Bible Story book salesman. He sold the little blue Bible Story books that everyone has seen in the doctor’s office.

A service celebrating Pete’s life will be held on Thursday, October 26 at 11 AM at the Sadie M. Holland Memorial Chapel. The family will receive friends from 9 AM until service time on Thursday at Holland Funeral Directors-Tupelo. Pete is survived by his wife of 72 years, Juanita Tucker Ledford; son, Thermond David Ledford (Judy), and daughters, Linda Joyce Hutchinson, Pamela Renee Jones, and Felicia Charlene Wilemon (Bryan); grandchildren, Charles Edward Childress, Patti Colleen Henderson, Tonya Pylar Aldridge, Adam Paul Childress, Angela Marie Hutchinson, Amanda Arlene Harris, Joshua Craig Jones, Ashlee Nicole Jones, Christopher Reese Pecou, Bethany Leigh Shaffer, Edward Allen Hutchinson III, and Amber Nicole Bates; 40 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

Pete was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Mary Katherine Childress; brothers, Owner Ledford, Elbert Ledford, Clifford Ledford, and Leonard Ledford, and sister, Alma Tucker.
