Tommy Gene Henry, 76

July 19, 1947 – November 12, 2023

Tommy Gene Henry, 76, resident of Tippah County passed away peacefully Sunday November 12, 2023, at Tippah County Hospital surrounded by loved ones.

Funeral Services honoring Mr. Henrys life will be 2 PM Wednesday November 15, 2023, in the Heritage Chapel of the Ripley Funeral Home with Bro. Cole Chapman officiating. Visitation will be 12 Noon until Service Time on Wednesday November 15, 2023, at Ripley Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Tippah Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Henry was born July 19, 1947, in Tippah County to the late William Thomas and Vessie Martin Henry. He received his education form Center School and was married July 8, 1966, to his beloved wife Betty Rose Miller who survives. A self-taught mechanic at a young age, Mr. Henry worked on tractors and cotton pickers for farmers in Tippah County. After working his way up, he was employed with multiple dealerships such as Ford, Chevy, Chrysler, and Dodge for 37 years before his retirement.

Known as “Rooster” to many friends, Mr. Henry enjoyed hunting, fishing, and being outdoors in his earlier years. He was his family’s provider and always took care of keeping the yard up and servicing all the vehicles. His greatest joy came from his family, and he loved being surrounded by his much-adored grandchildren. Mr. Henry will be long remembered as a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, and friend, whose legacy includes his willingness to work, taking care of his family, and always offering a helping hand to anyone he could. He will truly be missed.

In addition to his wife of 57 years, those left to cherish his memories include one daughter, Carol Smith, one son, Lynn Henry (Esther), two sisters, Bernice Souitor and Helen Drewery (Waymon), two brothers, Robert Henry (Doris) and Larry Henry (Joyce), three grandchildren, Kati Tackett, Rob Smith (Jessica), and Kira Smith, and two great grandchildren, Harper and Emma.

He is also preceded in death by one grandson, Caleb Smith, two sisters, Louise Sweatman and Juanita Wooley, three brothers, James, Herman, and Jerry Henry, a grandson in law, Nick Tackett, and a special sister-in-law, Lisa Miller.
