Mr. Oscar “Shine” Earl Wells,  73, transitioned on Monday, January 27, 2025, in Memphis, TN.

Oscar Earl Wells was born April 14, 1951, in Red Banks, MS, to Oscar Wells and Lillian Hall Watson. He departed this life Monday, January 27, 2025, at Regional One Health, in Memphis, TN.

Oscar accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Pleasant Grove M.B. Church in Red Banks, MS. He was employed as a weigher at Team Waste and driver for Ready Mix Concrete.

Oscar attended Rosenwald School in Holly Springs, MS.  He loved fishing, riding around in his van, cooking, baseball and other sports, and spending time with his family and friends.

Oscar was united in holy matrimony to Annie Mae Judge-Wells August 27, 2005.

Oscar leaves to cherish his loving memories three daughters: Angela Newsom of NJ, Lazandra Lachetta Wells of Holly Springs, MS, and Yakira Penilton (Brian) of Olive Branch, MS; two brothers: James King, Jr. “Simon” of Holly Springs, MS and Quincy Todd (Emma) of Mt. Pleasant, MS; four sisters: Frankie Bell of Holly Springs, MS, Christine Davis of Byhalia, MS, Jeanette Barksdale (Dean), and Thais Manning (Anthony) both of Holly Springs, MS; five granddaughters: Serria Hoye, Stephani Hoye, Saleehia Hoye, Yhalanii Penilton, and Yhalencii Penilton; special nephews: Mark Bell, Antonia Wells, and Fred Bell; and a host of uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded by his loving parents: Oscar Wells and Lillian Hall Watson; wife: Annie Mae Wells; three brothers: Oscar D. Watson, Louis Lincoln Watson, and Vercie Sumlar; six sisters: Lue City Echols, Hattie Watson, Anna Mae Watson, Julia Ann Faulkner, Silva Davis, and Leonia Wilson.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2025, 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., at Serenity Funeral Home Chapel, 140 N. Memphis St., Holly Springs, MS  38635.

Services will be held on Sunday, February 2, 2025, at 2:30 p.m., at Holly Springs Multi-Purpose Building,235 N. Memphis St., Holly Springs, MS  38635.

Burial will take place at Hillcrest Cemetery, 179 S. Market St., Holly Springs, MS  38635
