Consent agenda

(Timestamp 0:58). Most of the items on the consent agenda items (2a-2g) as well as the Chancery and Circuit Clerk items were approved with minimal discussion. Two items of interest include:

  • (Timestamp 4:40). Quotes for soil borings in the Martintown Industrial Park. Pritchard Engineering (Columbus, MS) submitted a bid of $21,600 and ESI (Memphis) submitted a bid of $23,400. The lower bid was accepted from Pritchard Engineering.
  • The Governor’s proclamation for upcoming state holidays: Thanksgiving (Nov. 27 and 28), Christmas (Dec. 25 and 26) and New Years (Jan. 1 and 2, 2026).

Sheriff’s Department

(Timestamp 7:48). The board approved hiring William Eli Brady as a part-time jailer and considered quotes submitted for Sheriff’s Dept. equipment:

  • Purchase of a 2026 Chevy Tahoe 4×4 Police Pursuit Vehicle (PPV). Sheriff Edwards explained that funds came from recent drug-crime related property seizures. One quote was received from Cannon Chevrolet: $57, 318.76 and another from Rogers-Dabbs for $57,015.42. The board accepted the lower bid from Rogers-Dabbs.
  • Quotes to outfit a 12-passenger 2026 Chevy Express van outfitted with cage/window bars for transporting inmates. The Sheriff said funds for the modifications would come from the inmate commissary fund. Cannon Chevrolet submitted a bid of $9,100 and Leflore Communications (Greenwood, MS) bid $9,974. The board accepted Cannon’s bid.

Tax assessor’s office

(Timestamp 13:00). Nick Smithey from the Fade Zone Barber Shop at 708 W Bankhead St. submitted a correction for taxation on a piece of personal property. The board approved the correction.

Volunteer Fire Department

(Timestamp 13:55). The board discussed quotes for required pump testing for fire trucks. Sunbelt Fire submitted a quote for $8,442 and Southern States Fire entered a bid of $6,120. The board accepted the lower bid from Southern States Fire.

One overlooked item that was not on the printed agenda was payment to the Circuit Clerk for assisting the election commissioner. Chancery Clerk Annette Hickey raised this at the end of the meeting and the board approved it.

The board then recessed to Monday, November 17, 2025.
