Doug Nix, 70

January 31, 1956 – July 7, 2026

Douglas Hugh Nix, 70 of Myrtle, Mississippi passed away on Tuesday July 7, 2026, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. Because he made a profession of faith in Jesus Christ, Doug is now in heaven with Jesus. Doug was born on January 31, 1956, in Aurora, Illinois, the son of Hugh and Esther (Larson) Nix.



Doug was survived by his brother Jeffrey C. Nix, Plano, Illinois and his sister Jodeen (Jody Nix) McMillen, Watertown, Wisconsin. He is also survived by 8 nieces and nephews and 15 great-nieces and nephews as well as many friends and little friends who called him “Uncle Doug.”

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Doug grew up in the Aurora, Illinois, area and relocated to Enterprise when he was 18 years old. He attended Yorkville High School, Yorkville, Illinois, and graduated from West Union Attendance Center in Enterprise. He also attended Northeast Mississippi Community College, Booneville, receiving certifications in welding and HVAC.

Doug’s career allowed him to use the skills he learned throughout his adult life. He worked at Day-Brite until he retired and was known for his hard work and faithfulness. Doug owned a small business, Nix Dog Collars, and could be seen each month at First Monday in Ripley as well as doing business at his home.

In addition to his professional life, Doug enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time outdoors. He also provided care to his parents, ensuring their comfort and well-being unselfishly.

His brother, sister, nieces and nephews, and young friends love him and will miss his care and compassion for them. He touched the lives of many and leaves behinds memories that will be treasured forever.

A memorial service for Doug will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at Martin Baptist Church in New Albany, Mississippi with Rev. Sammy McMillen officiating. Visitation will take place at the church from noon until the time of the service.

The family would especially like to thank the staff at North Mississippi Medical Center for the care and compassion given to Doug.
