Alex Charles Rowland, 31

June 19, 1992  –  January 31, 2024

TUPELO — Alex Charles “Scragg” Rowland departed this earthly realm for the spirit in the sky from NMMC on Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2024. Born to Tammy Rogers Rowland and Richard Rowland in Tupelo on June 19, 1992, his life was cut way short but the joy he found in gaming, comic book characters, play station 4, Batman, DC characters and Star Trek among others, his love of music of all genres and his large circle of friends and family gave him immense joy and pleasure. A great singer, Alex was a sheer joy to be around. His struggle with addiction was a constant battle but he always tried to land on his feet, optimistic and smiling and optimistically looking towards the future. Alex was known for his laughter, jokes and general excitement of living life large and spontaneous. “Scragg” will forever have a special place in the hearts of his family and large circle of friends.



A service celebrating his earthly journey will take place at 4 PM Sunday in the Sadie Holland Memorial Chapel at Holland Funeral Directors-Tupelo with cousins, Drew McNatt, Erik Hannon, Dayton Davis, and Joshua McNatt speaking. Visitation will be from 3PM-5PM Saturday (today 2/3/24) and from 2 PM –service time on Sunday all at Holland-Tupelo Chapel which is honored to be serving their friends. Alex is survived by his mother, Tammy Rogers Rowland of Tupelo; his father, Richard C. Rowland (Leah) of Iuka; his sister, Melody Walters (Dale) of Mooreville; his niece and nephew, Brock and Caroline, and his grandmother, Billie (Mrs. Joel) Rogers of Tupelo; a stepbrother, Kevin Robinette (Shannon) of Iuka and stepsister, Erica Phifer of Iuka; his best friend and brother by another mother, Dayton Davis of Tupelo; many cousins and their families. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Joel Rogers, and his paternal grandparents, John and Ann Rowland.
