Amos Gregory Johnson, 64

August 9, 1959 – February 7, 2024

Amos Gregory Johnson was born August 9, 1959 in Tupelo, MS to Odie and Maggie (Stephens) Johnson Sr. and to this union he was the last of four children. Amos left this world on Wednesday February 7 at Baldwyn Nursing Facility in Baldwyn, MS.



He joined Rising Star M.B. Church at a young age and remained until his death. He went to Tupelo Public Schools and after he went on to work for Mid-South Packers. He always had a dream of being an entrepreneur and later became owner of A & J Detail Shop. Greg was a very charismatic, handsome and sharp dressed young man. He loved car, motorcycles, basketball and football and good home cooked food.

He leaves to cherish his memory one daughter Maggie (Joshua) Harrison of Baldwyn, MS. Grandchildren Jalaluna, Jalayshia and J’ziah Harrison of Baldwyn, MS. Brothers Odie (Earlie) Johnson Jr., Nathan Johnson Sr. all of Tupelo, MS, Rev. Larry (Angela) Stone of Guntown, MS. Nieces: Vanessa (Rev. Bryant Southward Sr. of Tupelo, MS, Seleche (Tanoris) Ayers, Erica (Levell) Spencer all of Mansfield, TX, Charmaine Johnson of Decatur, AL, Courtne McGee of Tupelo, MS, Great nieces Brittney Williams of Prairie, TX, Zaria Ayers and Emerie Spencer of Mansfield, TX, Mia Bush of Columbus, MS. Nephews: Chris ( Tiffany) Young of Columbus, MS, Bernard Johnson Jr. of Decatur, AL, Odie Johnson III of Phoenix, AR. Great-nephews Cody Shackelford of Decatur, AL, Caleb II, Cullen and Colin Southward all of Tupelo, MS, Levi Spencer of Mansfield, TX and Javier Bush of Columbus, MS. Aunt Georgia Hamilton and uncle Leonard (Rita) Stephens Jr. all of Racine, WI. Aunt Mary Chandler Johnson of Tarpon Springs, FL. A host of special cousins and friends and a host of special cousins and friends and a very special friend Mrs. Yvonne Bailey.

He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, sister Ruby Maxine, aunts Sophia Barron, Herbine Reese, uncles Henry and Romic Johnson, Theodis Barron and Manassie (Tubby) Stephens. Great nephew Eric Southward and counsins Elizabeth Reese and Michael Hamilton.
