Betty Jo Smith Simmons, 70

July 9, 1953 – March 19, 2024

Belden- Mrs. Betty Jo Smith Simmons was born on July 9, 1953 in Tupelo, MS to Ossie L. Smith and Betty Jean Smith. Betty Jo was a loving mother, grandmother, gi-gi, aunt, sister, cousin, and friend. She was a caring woman of God that went above and beyond for others. She loved to laugh, be around family, and loved, loved, loved her grand babies. Betty Jo was a member of Temple of Praise in Tupelo, where she was faithful under the leadership of Pastor Johnny Shaw. Betty Jo gave her time in serving as a certified nursing assistant in nursing homes and home care. She started as a young girl and it eventually grew into her passion and calling.



On Tuesday, March 19, 2024 God called Betty home to be with him. She is survived by her three children, Gerald B. Smith, Candice R. Smith, and Michael P. Smith; two sisters, Annette Shannon and Rose Edwards; eight grands, Chaz Jones, Raven Gillard, Anthonesis Hoskins, Andirsan Buchanan, Drew Smith, Jordan Smith, Michael Paull II, and Khloe Dillard; five great-grands, Anthony, Javaris, Paityn, Esmé, and Da’Kharee; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Barbara Ann Copeland and Mary Ann Smith; three brothers, George Smith, Sammy Bean, and Ossie Smith, Jr. Betty Jo will be greatly missed.

A service celebrating her life will be held at 12 Noon Saturday, March 30, 2024 at Life Changing Ministries, 94 South Thomas Street, Tupelo, MS with Pastor Johnny Shaw officiating. Burial will follow in Porters Memorial Park. A wake will be held from 4-6PM Friday, March 29, 2024 at the Tupelo Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors, 5281 Cliff Gookin Blvd, Tupelo MS. Holland Funeral Directors is honored to be assisting the family during this time.

Pallbearers will be Demarcus Smith, Rotrennis Smith, Denarius Smith, Skyye Jones, Chaz Jones, Nicholas Smith, and Kobe Pruitt.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Gerald Smith, Michael Paul Smith II, Jordan Smith, an Drew Smith.
