Billy Ray Frederick, Sr., 82

September 3, 1941 – November 19, 2023

PALMETTO – Billy Ray Frederick, Sr., age 82, died at NMMC in Tupelo after an extended illness on November 19, 2023. He was the son of the late Cleve Frederick and Lillian Snipes Frederick. He grew up and lived his entire life in the Palmetto Community. Bill was a member of Old Union Baptist Church. Bill graduated from Shannon High School in 1960 where he was a standout athlete in football, basketball and baseball. Legend has it that the school principal would go get Bill out of the cotton field to pitch for the Red Raiders, then take him back after the games. He married Susan “Sue” Dye on July 15, 1960. Bill spent most of his working life with Cash Distributing Company, retiring as Salesman, where he enjoyed the exchange with his customers. Bill loved spending time with his family especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed the outdoors – hunting, fishing, tending his yard and gardening. He loved watching baseball and was an avid Atlanta Braves fan. A selfless soul who always put his family and friends’ interests above his own, Bill lived a purpose-filled life.
