William Vernon Ethridge, 81

March 31, 1942 – November 18, 2023,

Saltillo- William Vernon Ethridge, 81, died Saturday, November 18, 2023, at North Mississippi Medical Center. He was born March 31, 1942, to Horace Frank Ethridge and Ruby Jewel Watson Ethridge. When asked, Vernon always said he was from Sarasota, Florida although they moved around a good bit in his younger years. In 1964, he married the former Frances Taylor, and they spent 52 years together before her passing in 2016. After 38 years, Vernon retired from Eldrige Plumbing. He enjoyed collecting and tinkering on antique cars and woodworking making anything from bowls to rocking chairs. He was a faithful member of Mayfield Church of Christ.



Vernon is survived by his three sons, Anthony Ethridge and his wife, Suzette, of Saltillo, Bill Ethridge and his wife, Melissa, of Mooreville, and Bruce Ethridge and his wife, Stephenie, of New Albany; eight grandchildren, Kelsie Hankins and her husband, Andy, of Mooreville, Taylor Witt and her husband, Stuart, of Mooreville, Cambron Myers and her husband, Jimmy, of Saltillo, Erik Ethridge and his wife, Kayla, of Dorsey, Zach Ethridge of Alabama, Raven Ethridge of Water Valley, Brooke Embrey and her husband, Justin, of Golden, and Megan Hare of Mantachie; 22 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Patricia Ann Kennedy and her husband, Kemp, of New Albany.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and four brothers, Frank, Rubin, Jewel, and Russell Ethridge.

Visitation will be 11 a.m. until service time Tuesday, November 21, 2023, at Pegues, Saltillo.

Services honoring his life will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, November 21, 2023, at the Saltillo Chapel of Pegues with Minister Adam Miller officiating. Burial will be in Mayfield Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Stuart Witt, Andy Hankins, Dusty Kyle, Mike Ethridge, Danny Ethridge, John Warren, Cody Mason, and Erik Ethridge.
