Bobby Ray “Buddy” Smithey, Jr., 61

June 5, 1962 – May 10, 2024

Myrtle-Bobby Ray “Buddy” Smithey Jr., 61, departed this life on Friday, May 10, 2024 surrounded by his loved ones. He was born June 5, 1962 in Union County to Bobby Ray Smithey, Sr. and Charlotte Ann Gresham Smithey. Before his health declined, he was a supervisor at Albany Industries. He was a member of Moss Hill Baptist Church.
Of his hobbies, fishing would be listed as his favorite, but he also enjoyed playing cards, pitching washers and horseshoes. He was a much loved father, grandfather, brother and friend; and will be missed by all who loved him.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 14, 2024 at United Funeral Service with Bro. Bobby Butler officiating. Burial will be at Bethlehem Cemetery.
He is survived by his daughter, Jennie E. Smithey; one son, Nicky Merritt; three sisters, Pam Cobb (Ronnie), Rhonda Butler (Bobby), and Vhonda Robbins; one brother, James Smithey, Sr. (Kathy); and two grandchildren, Kera and Kagen Merritt.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Angiela Merritt Smithey; a daughter, Isabel Smithey; and a brother-in-law, Donald Robbins.
Visitation will be on Monday, May 13, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and again on Tuesday from 1:00 p.m. until service time. All times will be at the funeral home.
