Brenda C. Mason “Bren”, 58, of Memphis, TN, transitioned on Tuesday, January 2, 2024



Brenda Carol Mason was born November 24, 1965, the late Nathaniel Ward and Dora Mae Mason in Lamar, MS.

Brenda confessed faith in Christ at an early age and was a member of Sandhill M.B. Church in Lamar, MS.  She was a graduate of Sandflat High School in Mt. Pleasant, MS.

She was a well-known prankster, as we all have experienced.  Brenda enjoyed playing cards and was an expert dealer.  She also liked counting money, hers and yours as well, going out to eat.  She watched wrestling and took pleasure in trying out moves on any willing or unwilling opponent. As many may recall, Brenda was a great dancer. She was employed at Marshall Industries and Incredible Pizza.  On Tuesday, January 2, 2024, Brenda departed this life.

She leaves to cherish her loving memories: four brothers: Walter (Phyllis) Mason of Lamar, MS,  Tracy Mason of Memphis, TN, James (Bridget) Mason of Memphis, TN, and Antonio Cox of Chicago, IL; two sisters: Willie Gatewood of Holly Springs, MS, and Annie Ward of Chicago, IL; two aunts: Lurleen Cannon of Chicago, IL, and Mary Craddock of Memphis, TN; dedicated caregiver: Ms. Yolanda Robinson of Memphis, TN; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Nathaniel Ward and Dora Mae Mason; six brothers: Willie B. (Evon) Mason, George Mason, William (Deloris) Mason, Jr., Edward Charles Mason, Ivory Louis Mason, and Patrick Ward.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 6, 2024, 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., at Serenity Funeral Home Chapel, 140 N. Memphis St., Holly Springs, MS  38635

Services will be held on Sunday, January 7, 2024, at 12:00 Noon, at Sandhill M.B. Church, 10695 Lamar Road, Lamar, MS  38642

Burial will take place in the church cemetery.
