Carl Wayne Mahon, 70

October 2, 1953 – December 28, 2023

Blue Springs- Carl Wayne Mahon, 70, of Blue Springs, died at home on 12/28/2023. He was born in Jackson to Carl and Helen Mahon, who preceded him in death. He obtained a certification in Respiratory Therapy where he dedicated his life to caring for and serving others—something he continued doing even in retirement while caring for special needs patients at the area Regional Center. Upon moving to Pontotoc, he began working with the Warrior football team where he served as a trainer for 40 years. He was a former member of the Union County School Board where he worked tirelessly to launch a football program within the county schools. He was a diehard Ole Miss Rebel fan, and is, no doubt, screaming “Hotty Toddy” for the game today.
Wayne is survived by his wife, Rebecca Anderson; two daughters, Carly and Mallory (Carter); two sons, Bear (Kimberly) and Mark (Jessica); one brother, Carl Henry Sullivan (Jackie); six grandchildren and one granddog.
Pallbearers will be Jackson Campbell, Bruce Hawkins, Jerry Gullett, Steve McBrayer, Dean Burchfield, and Chris Basil. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Steve Montgomery and Dr. John Mitchelle.
Visitation will be 12/30/23 at United Funeral Home in New Albany from 5-8 p.m. The funeral will be 12/31/23 at United at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, family request donations be made to East Union Attendance Center Booster Club.
