Charles David Browning, 86

August 30, 1937 – December 22, 2023

Charles David Browning, 86, passed away on December 22, 2023 at Union County Health and Rehab in New Albany. He was born August 30, 1937 in Batesville, Mississippi to Curtis and Lois Johnson Browning. He was a retired engineer, having worked at Caterpillar and then later at Ashley Industries. He also served in the U.S. Army. He enjoyed coon hunting and woodworking. He raised his grandson, Jeremy, like his own. He was a member of Fredonia Baptist Church. He will be sorely missed.
Visitation will be Tuesday, December 26, 2023, from 4:00 to 7:00, and the funeral service will be Wednesday, December 27, 2023 at 11:00 a.m., both at United Funeral Service. Burial will be in the Ingomar Cemetery.
He is survived by his loving wife, Geneva Tate Browning; one grandson, Jeremy Browning (Samantha), and a great-grandson, David Colin Browning, all of Ecru; his sisters, Betty Manning of Batesville, MS, Marie Scruggs (Billy) of West Point, MS, Sarah Graham (John) of Mantachie, MS, Mae Clark of Cabot, AR, Margie Harris (Roy) of Oxford, MS, Alma Lansdell of Saltillo, MS, and a brother, Doug Browning (Janice) of Batesville, MS.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his sons Charles Curtis Browning and David Keith Browning, and two brothers, James Browning and Billy Browning.
